This sculptural vase its inspired by Greek mythology, includes Scylla and Charybdis, the mythological monsters from Homer's "Odyssey" known for instilling fear in sailors.

Charybdis, also known as "suckle," is a female monster in Greek mythology, believed to be the daughter of Poseidon and Gaia. She resided on the Asian side of the Bosphorus Strait, opposite Scylla who dwelt on the European side. Charybdis was notorious for her ability to suck in the sea water three times a day, creating whirlpools that swallowed ships and sailors. Additionally, she would then expel the swallowed water three times, causing further destruction to anything caught in her grasp.
