Brontes Artwork
This artwork its inspired by the Cyclops Brontes. In Greek mythology, the Cyclopes are a triad of formidable deities featured in Hesiod's "Theogony." They are the offspring of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaia (Earth) and are named Brontes, Steropes, and Arges. These Cyclopes are known for their immense power and are distinct from the single-eyed Cyclopes of the Odyssey.
Initially, they were imprisoned in Tartarus by Uranus, who perceived them as a threat to his rule. Later, they were freed by Cronus (Saturn) and the Titans to assist in the overthrow of Uranus. However, once Cronus came to power, he returned them to Tartarus. It was not until Zeus and the Olympians came into the picture that the Cyclopes were finally released for good. With their aid, Zeus and the Olympians were able to defeat the Titans in the Titanomachy. The Cyclopes, under the guidance of Hephaestus, forged potent weapons of war, including Zeus's thunderbolt, in the fires of Mount Etna.
After Zeus's ascension to power, he entrusted the Cyclopes with the task of guarding the imprisoned Titans in Tartarus. In gratitude, they bestowed upon Zeus his iconic thunder and lightning. Additionally, they provided Artemis with her hunting bow.
The Cyclopes eventually met their demise at the hands of Apollo. Apollo killed them as retribution for Zeus's killing of Asclepius, Apollo's son.
