Polyphemus
Limited edition
This sculpture its inspired by the Cyclops Polyphemus. The Cyclops in the Odyssey are depicted as a monstrous race, the sons of Neptune, characterised by a single eye in the middle of their foreheads. They are mentioned in Homer's Odyssey as possibly residing on the island of Sicily in the western Mediterranean. These Cyclops are portrayed as savage, lacking any signs of culture or social structure, and known for exterminating (and consuming) anyone who ventured near their territory.
The narrative recounts how Odysseus and his sailors, after being shipwrecked on the Cyclops' coast, were trapped in the cave of Polyphemus, the most formidable among them. In a famous episode, Odysseus devised a cunning plan to blind the Cyclops, allowing him and his surviving crew to escape, though not without suffering losses.
